Horror and anime fans alike may soon have a reason to rejoice, as recent insider reports suggest that Dead by Daylight is preparing for a major collaboration with Tokyo Ghoul. According to leaks and industry insiders, the game’s next major chapter could introduce Ken Kaneki, the tragic and powerful protagonist of the popular anime and manga series, as a new Killer.
Expected Announcement and Release Date
While Behaviour Interactive, the developers of Dead by Daylight, have yet to confirm this officially, sources indicate that an announcement is expected on March 12. If the leaks prove accurate, the new chapter, featuring Ken Kaneki, will likely be released sometime in April 2025.
This would mark another significant crossover for the asymmetrical horror game, which has previously featured characters from iconic franchises such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Stranger Things.
How Ken Kaneki Could Fit as a Killer
If Kaneki is indeed added to Dead by Daylight, his abilities and playstyle could be uniquely terrifying. As a Ghoul, he possesses enhanced strength, agility, and regenerative abilities. His Kagune, the predatory organ that manifests as sharp tentacle-like appendages, would make for an excellent ability to strike, grab, or even slow down Survivors.
Potential abilities could include:
- Kagune Lash – A long-range attack that extends his tentacles to strike Survivors from a distance.
- Predatory Instinct – Temporary bursts of speed or enhanced tracking abilities, similar to how he hunts in Tokyo Ghoul.
- Ghoul Regeneration – A mechanic allowing him to recover from attacks or abilities faster than other Killers.
His presence in the Fog would add a nightmarish element to the already terrifying roster of killers, bringing psychological horror and anime brutality into the mix.
Possible Survivor Addition – Touka Kirishima?
While most of the buzz surrounds Kaneki as a potential Killer, there’s also speculation that Dead by Daylight could introduce a Survivor from Tokyo Ghoul as well. If this happens, Touka Kirishima, Kaneki’s close ally and a fellow Ghoul, would be a strong candidate. As a Ghoul trying to live a normal life, she could bring a unique backstory and possibly a new perk set tailored to evasion and resilience.
Dead by Daylight’s History with Anime Crossovers
Though Dead by Daylight has largely focused on Western horror franchises, this wouldn’t be the first time anime has influenced the game. In 2023, the developers introduced a collaboration with Attack on Titan, adding skins based on the series. If the Tokyo Ghoul rumors are true, this could pave the way for even more anime-inspired content in the future.
What This Means for Fans
For longtime fans of both Dead by Daylight and Tokyo Ghoul, this crossover could be a dream come true. The dark, eerie atmosphere of the Tokyo Ghoul universe aligns perfectly with Dead by Daylight’s horror elements. Kaneki’s tragic backstory and monstrous abilities would make him an ideal candidate for the Killer role, while potential new Survivors and cosmetics could further enhance the experience.
If the official announcement on March 12 confirms this collaboration, fans can expect teasers, trailers, and possibly even a Public Test Build (PTB) before the full release in April.
