The rumor mill has been buzzing after a surprising marketing email that featured World of Warcraft alongside other popular titles. The email, titled “Play Call of Duty, Diablo IV, World of Warcraft, and More Activision Hits with Game Pass!” included a link to a Game Pass subscription. Screenshots of the email quickly went viral on the Xbox subreddit, where users noted that the inclusion of WoW seemed deliberate.
The email sparked an intense debate about the potential addition of the legendary MMO to Game Pass and the possibility of a console release. However, Microsoft quickly clarified the situation with an official statement:
“We apologize for the confusion caused by our mistake. World of Warcraft was unintentionally included in the Game Pass email, despite not being part of the service. Subscribers will soon receive a correction email.”
The statement was immediately followed by pleas from players asking Microsoft to add WoW to Game Pass. Some players even mentioned that they had tested the game with a gamepad and found it worked well.

What raised eyebrows even more were the promotional materials in the email, which did not appear to be a mere oversight. The images, shared on the Xbox subreddit, showcased the Plunderstorm event art, designed in the signature style of Xbox and Game Pass.
Despite Microsoft’s official denial, many fans are convinced that it’s only a matter of time before WoW joins the Game Pass lineup.
