The developers of Euro Truck Simulator 2 have unveiled their ambitious plans for the next rework project, dubbed Project Benelux. This name originates from the first letters of each country involved: Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Each of these countries will undergo a comprehensive rework from scratch.
Significance of the Benelux Rework
The rework of the Benelux region in Euro Truck Simulator 2 marks a much-anticipated update to one of the oldest parts of the game’s continental map. This project involves a team of 10 map designers, alongside numerous staff members from the research, quality assurance, asset, and programming departments.

Rationale Behind the Redesign
The decision to redesign the region was a natural extension of the ongoing efforts to revamp German cities within the game. Given the age of the existing map and the numerous changes that have occurred in the real world, the developers decided to completely redesign the region from scratch.

What Players Can Expect
Players can look forward to a more detailed and accurate representation of the Benelux region. This includes updated road networks, landmarks, and scenery, enhancing the overall driving experience. The rework aims to bring a fresh and immersive feel to the game, making it more enjoyable for both new and veteran players.

Collaborative Efforts and Challenges
The rework project involves collaboration across various departments, including research, quality assurance, and programming. Each team plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of the redesigned region. The process involves extensive research, testing, and iteration to create a realistic and engaging virtual environment.

Future Plans and Updates
The developers have hinted at more rework projects in the future, as part of their ongoing commitment to improving the game’s content. Players can expect regular updates and enhancements, ensuring that Euro Truck Simulator 2 remains a dynamic and evolving experience.
