February 23, 2025 – The Farm 51 studio has released a demo of its highly anticipated game, Chernobylite 2, which has drawn attention not only for its intriguing gameplay but also for its staggering size. The demo occupies a massive 115 gigabytes, making it potentially the “heaviest” demo on Steam to date.
A Fusion of Survival and RPG Elements
Chernobylite 2 combines survival and RPG elements, presenting a vivid, sci-fi interpretation of the desolate world reminiscent of STALKER 2. The game’s setting, plot, and mechanics offer players a unique experience that builds on the legacy of its predecessor while adding fresh twists and enhancements.
Impressive Gameplay Mechanics
The demo, available until March 3, includes a comprehensive tutorial and introductory dialogues that set the stage for the main story. Players also have the opportunity to create their own character class, allowing for a personalized gameplay experience. This early peek into the game has already generated buzz among gamers and critics alike.
Speculations on Demo Size
There are two prevailing theories about why the demo is so large. One possibility is that the demo itself is genuinely extensive, requiring significant data. The other theory suggests that players are actually downloading the full game files, with progression limited by a lock after a certain point. If true, this would mean that the entire game is already on the user’s hard drive, but only the initial stages are accessible in the demo.
Kickstarter Exclusivity and Public Release
Initially, the demo was exclusive to players who backed Chernobylite 2 on Kickstarter. However, it has now been made available to everyone ahead of Steam Next Fest, broadening its reach and allowing more players to experience the game.
Upcoming Full Release
The developers, known for their work on the experimental shooter Get Even, are gearing up for the full release of Chernobylite 2 in early access on March 6. This early access period will provide players with a more in-depth look at the game’s mechanics, story, and world-building.
Future Optimizations
It’s likely that The Farm 51 will address the file size issue in future updates, potentially reducing the demo’s size to make it more accessible to a broader audience. This move could attract even more players who are interested in exploring the post-apocalyptic world of Chernobylite 2 without the burden of a massive download.
No i taką grę ja rozumiem, cherno1 nie było złe, ale raczej niszowa gra, a tutaj mamy pełnoprawne RPG, bardzo ciekawe potwory, fajna customizacja postaci no i widać, że strzelanie jest o wiele poziomów wyższe niż w 1 częśći. Nie mogę się doczekać!
Please add option for first person shooting !
