Xbox Cloud Gaming has achieved an impressive milestone with 140 million hours of playtime, even as overall Xbox revenue saw a 7% decline. Cloud gaming, however, continues to show steady growth.
Microsoft’s CEO announced this record during a meeting with investors. Despite the drop in console sales, the cloud service and PC Game Pass subscription have performed exceptionally well, thanks in part to the launch of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.” This game, available on Game Pass, has attracted new players who can enjoy the franchise without needing a console.
Other Activision Blizzard titles, like “Spyro Reignited Trilogy” and “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy,” have also garnered popularity. This highlights Xbox’s successful strategy of integrating new audiences through cloud technologies.
Although console sales are declining, Microsoft is adapting by shifting its focus from hardware to cloud gaming and mobile access. It appears that Microsoft is not trying to catch up with competitors but is instead aiming to change the rules of the game.
