Civilization 7 Interface Improvement Mod Now Available

Civilization VII became available to regular players this morning (unexpectedly), but those who bought the extended edition have been playing for several days and have compiled an impressive list of complaints about the new part of the famous 4X strategy. A lot of criticism is related to the inconvenient interface and the lack of basic functions from previous parts. And although Firaxis announced upcoming changes, one of the enthusiasts has already released a mod to solve some of the problems.

Simple UI Adjustments Mod

The Simple UI Adjustments mod by renowned developer Sukritact adds tooltips when hovering over map tiles, including descriptions of wonders of the world, smaller resource icons in undeveloped areas, and the ability to initiate diplomatic negotiations directly through other civilizations’ city tiles. The changes seem small, but they eliminate the need to constantly refer to the Civilopedia or dig through additional menus in search of the necessary information.

Key Features of the Mod

  • Tooltips for Map Tiles: Hover over map tiles to view descriptions of wonders and important information without needing to open additional menus.
  • Smaller Resource Icons: Resource icons in undeveloped areas are now smaller, providing a cleaner and more accessible view of the map.
  • Direct Diplomatic Negotiations: Initiate diplomatic negotiations directly through other civilizations’ city tiles, streamlining the process.

Installation Guide

Since Civilization VII has just been released, the Steam Workshop for the game is still empty. Fortunately, installing the mod is very simple – just place the folder with the files in the directory:

[user]\AppData\Local\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Mods

You can check the correctness of the installation in the modifications menu in the additional content section.

Even though the game has been in Early Access since February 6th, Sukritact has already created another mod that removes restrictions on the choice of civilizations, usually tied to certain leaders and achievements in different eras.

Of course, the absence of such basic functions as renaming cities or units in the release version is disappointing, but judging by the activity of modders, we won’t have to wait long for fixes.
