A Shocking End: Premature Endings in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the developers at Warhorse Studios have prepared a special surprise for players who choose the path of lawlessness. As revealed in a video published by user Niktek, the guards’ threats of the death penalty are not just empty words.

Facing the Consequences: The Path of Crime

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

After committing a series of serious crimes, the local lawman informs the protagonist that they have crossed all boundaries. Perhaps tired of the burden of a cruel world, the protagonist meekly accepts their fate. The next scene shows the protagonist in prison, seemingly beginning to regret their actions. They are then led through a crowd of onlookers eager to witness the execution.

The Final Moments: Execution Scene

To the sad music, the hero climbs the scaffold. Birds fly overhead, they clench their fists and close their eyes. The music dies down, the chief of the guard gives the executioner a signal, and the hero becomes a new decoration of the Bohemian skies. The screen darkens, and the caption appears:

“You were executed for your crimes.”

A Full-Fledged Ending: No Second Chances

The developers at Warhorse Studios have created a complete, premature ending to the story—no staged escapes or text messages about six months in prison and remorse. The story ends forever, and although loading a save will bring you back to life, you will have to seriously reconsider your criminal plans. Or try not to get caught.

Dialogue Choices and Endings

It is also worth noting that this ending is possible as a result of choosing a certain dialogue option. These unexpected endings are rare but do happen in games.

Examples of Alternate Endings in Other Games

In Far Cry 4, you can finish the game in 15 minutes simply by waiting for Pagan Min to return. This Easter egg ending proved so popular that Ubisoft added similar early endings to Far Cry 5 and 6. Similarly, alternate endings can be found in Baldur’s Gate 3 and the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.

The Unpleasant Reality of Premature Endings

The peculiarity of these endings is that the developers created a full, albeit undesirable, ending to the game. This is not just a skip of the plot with the help of a glitch or secret knowledge—this is a real, albeit not the most pleasant, ending.
