NetherRealm Studios has officially unveiled the T-1000 as a new playable character in Mortal Kombat 1. This advanced liquid metal assassin, originally portrayed by Robert Patrick in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), will join the game’s roster on March 18, 2025, for owners of the “Khaos Reigns” expansion, with general availability on March 25.
The T-1000 Joins the Mortal Kombat Universe
The T-1000 is renowned for its shapeshifting abilities, allowing it to form weapons and mimic other characters. In Mortal Kombat 1, these features are expected to be integral to its moveset, providing players with a unique combat experience. Robert Patrick has lent both his voice and likeness to the character, enhancing the authenticity of the in-game portrayal.
Gameplay Teaser Highlights
A recently released teaser trailer offers a glimpse into the T-1000’s gameplay mechanics. The character utilizes its liquid metal composition to morph limbs into blades and other weapons, staying true to its cinematic origins. One of its Fatalities pays homage to an iconic scene from Terminator 2, involving a high-speed chase with a semi-truck.
Madam Bo Kameo Fighter
Alongside the T-1000, Madam Bo will be introduced as a Kameo Fighter on March 18. Kameo Fighters assist players during matches with a range of support moves, adding strategic depth to battles. Madam Bo’s inclusion is part of the ongoing content updates aimed at enriching the gameplay experience.
Expansion of Kombat Pack 2
The T-1000’s arrival marks the final addition to Mortal Kombat 1‘s Kombat Pack 2, which has expanded the game’s roster with a mix of returning favorites and guest characters. Previous additions include Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface from the Scream franchise, and Conan the Barbarian, modeled after Arnold Schwarzenegger’s portrayal in the 1982 film.
Future Content and Updates
While the release of the T-1000 concludes the current lineup for Kombat Pack 2, NetherRealm Studios has hinted at the possibility of additional downloadable content (DLC) in the future. Files for more characters have been datamined, and series co-creator Ed Boon has suggested that continued support may be influenced by the game’s strong sales performance, which has surpassed five million copies.
