Square Enix Releases Update for Final Fantasy XVI: Denuvo Removed

Square Enix has released a new update for Final Fantasy XVI, which removes the Denuvo protection from the game. The PC version of Final Fantasy 16 was released in September 2024, meaning the publisher has decided to ditch the anti-piracy technology around five to six months after its release.

Full Story with No Sequel or DLC

Final Fantasy XVI offers players a complete story with a definitive ending, with no hints of a sequel or DLC. The game leans more towards action compared to other parts of the series, where tactical elements fade into the background.

Enhanced Graphics and Performance

In addition to the removal of Denuvo, the game has already received support for Nvidia’s multi-frame generation technology. On the RTX 5090 video card, the game can run at an impressive 8K resolution, and in 4K, players can achieve a high frame rate without issues with input lag. However, this level of performance requires a super-expensive video card.

Nvidia’s Multi-Frame Generation Technology

Nvidia’s multi-frame generation technology enhances the game’s performance by allowing it to run smoothly at higher resolutions. This technology is particularly beneficial for players using high-end graphics cards like the RTX 5090.

Performance and Denuvo Impact

It’s worth noting that even before Denuvo was removed, the game didn’t suffer from any serious stuttering issues. As a result, players should not expect significant performance improvements from this update. Final Fantasy XVI is primarily a GPU-heavy title, not a CPU-heavy one, where Denuvo’s impact is usually more noticeable.

Game Availability and Player Reception

Final Fantasy XVI is available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. The game has received positive feedback from players for its engaging story, action-packed gameplay, and stunning visuals.

Future Updates and Enhancements

Square Enix has hinted at future updates and enhancements to continue improving the player experience in Final Fantasy XVI. While there are no plans for a sequel or DLC, players can look forward to additional updates that may further optimize the game’s performance and introduce new features.
