As follows from the developer overview article, player dwellings will be located in expanded copies of locations outside the open world, combining elements of several areas at once. These will not be 1-to-1 copies, but some “inspired” by existing places in the game, yet essentially new areas. For the Alliance characters’ houses, Elwynn Forest will be taken as a basis, adding elements of Westfall and Duskwood, and for the Horde heroes’ houses, Durotar with its coast and Azshara will be taken.
Size and Placement of Combined Zones
Since these combined zones promise to be quite extensive, accommodating up to 50 houses, they are unlikely to find a place in the open world in their full form. So this will essentially be similar to, for example, Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin, which according to the story are located somewhere in Ashenvale/Barnyards and Arathi Highlands but are not directly in the open world. However, while creating them, the developers will most likely make some changes to their originals in the open world, so that there is no significant difference between them and players do not feel detached from the game world.
Developer Adjustments to the Game World
And while the question of how serious this update will be – whether the game’s authors will limit themselves to point transformations of individual objects or completely remake part or the entire location – remains open. Despite all this, players are already studying the materials provided by the developers and looking at potential places for housing in the open world, trying to determine where they will be located.
Player Predictions and Community Insights
Interestingly, they even succeed. In particular, Lottus21 and LoreAtHome believe that the Alliance houses will be located in the western zone of Elwynn Forest, and Pyerock found an area to the northeast of Orgrimmar that is very similar to the place for the Horde houses.
Potential Impact on Gameplay Experience
The introduction of player dwellings is expected to bring a new layer of immersion and personalization to the game. Players will not only have a personal space to call their own but will also have the opportunity to interact with neighbors, fostering a sense of community. Additionally, these new areas may offer unique quests, resources, and activities, making them an integral part of the gameplay experience.
Future Updates and Developments
As the development progresses, more details are likely to emerge, providing a clearer picture of what players can expect. The community is eagerly anticipating these updates and the potential for even more innovative features to enhance their adventures in World of Warcraft.
