Former Counter-Strike Pro TenZ Talks Salaries and Popularity Between CS and Valorant

Former Counter-Strike 2 pro and current Valorant star Tyson “TenZ” Ngo shared his thoughts on the salaries of the two disciplines, as well as which game is more popular in the world. His comments from the broadcast were published by the YouTube channel AloneVal.

When asked where esports players earn the highest salaries, TenZ answered directly: “I will say that, of course, in CS. The salaries of players in Valorant are very far from salaries in CS.”

Valorant vs. Counter-Strike: A Battle for Popularity

However, Ngo expressed a different opinion on the popularity of the games. He noted that Valorant has a more global reach, while Counter-Strike remains a stable classic but is concentrated in certain regions.

“CS is a more enduring game in Europe, it has a huge scale, especially in the CIS. But in North America it is dead. In Asia, Valorant is definitely more popular than CS,” said TenZ.

Regional Popularity of Counter-Strike and Valorant

Counter-Strike has long been considered a staple in the esports community, particularly in Europe and the CIS regions where it enjoys a significant fanbase. The game’s deep-rooted history and established competitive scene contribute to its lasting appeal in these areas.

On the other hand, Valorant has rapidly gained traction across various regions, especially in Asia and North America. Its fresh approach to gameplay, regular updates, and involvement from Riot Games have helped it carve out a substantial presence in the esports world.

The Future of Esports Salaries and Popularity

As the esports industry continues to grow, it remains to be seen how the salaries and popularity dynamics between games like Counter-Strike and Valorant will evolve. For now, each game has its unique strengths and loyal player base, contributing to the diverse and exciting landscape of competitive gaming.
